1. Introduction
One of the present writer's favourite film's is Smiley from 1956, his year of birth. Apart from Colin Petersen as the star, the most memorable personality in that film was the legendary Chips Rafferty (1909 - 1971). In looking back from 2026, it seems that Chips starred, or appeared in, the majority of Australia's most important films from the 1940s through to the early 1970s. In seeking to look back at his career, the writer sought to view his appearances. First stop was Wikipedia, to check out a listing of his work, both in Australia and internationally. This was then followed by a scouring of online streaming sources and social media such as YouTube. Below is a listing of Rafferty's films and other acting performances (TV shows and plays), with links to them where available. Also listed below are incidental items such as interviews, newsreels and documentaries relating to Chips Rafferty.
