Kick Out the Jams LP 1969

The MC5 were a ground-breaking, high energy rock band from Detroit, Michigan whose recordings and live performances between 1966-72 are proof of this. Their 1969 live LP Kick Out the James is a classic of the era. Band members varied during the early and later years, however the longest and most significant lineup was as follows:

  • Rob Tyner - Vocals & Harmonica
  • Fred Sonic Smith - Guitar
  • Wayne Kramer - Guitar (founder)
  • Michael Davis - Bass
  • Dennis Thompson - Drums.

Davis, Thompson and Tyner left the band during the early and middle part of 1972, with Smith and Kramer carrying on until the end of that year. The final show of the original lineup took place on New Year's Eve 1972 at the Grande Ballroom, Detroit, to a muted reception.
