Shocking Blue was a Dutch rock band formed in The Hague, Netherlands, during 1967. Their two big hits were Send Me a Postcard, released on the Pink Elephant label in December 1968, and Venus, which during 1969 hit No.1 in the US and around the world. The band, at the height of their fame, comprised guitarist and songwriter Robbie van Leeuwin, drummer Cor van der Beek, bassist Klaasje van der Wal, and vocalist Mariska Veres (1947-2006). Additional personnel were added in 1971. The band disbanded in 1974.
